Make a Slow Stitched Contemplation Cloth On-Demand Class

  • 17 Lessons

This class is an invitation to slow down and listen within. Using soft fabrics and thread, we'll explore stitching as a meditation—an intuitive, mindful practice that can help us release, reflect, and return to stillness. As our hands move gently through the cloth, we'll find space for healing, wisdom, and calm. You’ll receive instant, lifetime access and gentle guidance from me along the way, whenever you need it.

"I have loved having the comfort of this new way of stitching. It’s been such a difficult time for me adjusting physically and mentally after being so sick...learning this gentle form of stitch has brought me so much quietness." -student in Slow Stitched Contemplation Cloth Class

"I am thinking of my running stitch as more of a meandering stitch, and the thread and I are working together to find our way."

-Joanna, student in Slow Stitched Contemplation Cloth Class

“This class opened up a whole new way to tap into creativity. This was the first time that I have ever been encouraged to trust my inner creative self and to just allow play to happen without focusing on someone else’s idea of what my work should look like. So freeing.”

-Linda, student in Wabi Sabi Mixed Media Books Class

"I love the idea of spaciousness and imperfection - what a great new way of viewing things in nature and in life!  The theme of impermanence is also a new one for me and one that feels completely natural." -student in Wabi Sabi Mixed Media Books Class

Hi, I'm Emma Freeman, your teacher and guide through this creative class.

I'm an Artist, Poet, Reiki Practitioner, Teacher, and Intuitive Medium.

Art making has always been my sanctuary—a space where I can slow down, listen, play, explore and find a deeper connection to myself and the world.

My difficult healing journey led me to spirituality and learning various healing modalities. I believe creative expression is love in action and have experienced how love has the power to transform our deepest pain into light and depth. I’m here to support others as they navigate their inner worlds, deepen their connection to their creative spirit and find their own radiant light to guide them through life.

I am a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), sober and part of the LGBTQIA community, I live in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

I’d love to share this journey with you.

Testimonials from Students

"I had never heard the term wabi sabi and it was like opening a whole new place to think from.  I love the concepts of imperfection, space and impermanence and will be bringing them forward in future art making.  I also loved the encouragement of letting our inner critic take a little break and to approach art from a more intuitive and nature-based place.  Thank you so much for sharing all your thoughts and techniques, as well as your resources!" -Marjorie, student in Wabi Sabi Mixed Media Books Class

"This whole class was just fabulous. I was glad you shared how thoughtfully ordered the classes were. I was tempted to do it in the order that many workshops follow: here’s what we are going to make. Work with that goal in mind - and instead followed your order. I am glad I did - making lots of marks and playing around before structuring the book was freeing. It really did allow for a more spontaneous and natural flow. And I felt my work was more meaningful to me. Playing removes the pressure to “perform”. Thank you Emma!" -Linda, student in Wabi Sabi Mixed Media Books Class

"I really loved your class. The way you combined the philosophy of wabi sabi with art making and slow stitching made me consider concepts in a new way. A wonderful chance to play!  -Niki, student in Wabi Sabi Mixed Media Books Class

"I thought I had a reasonable understanding of wabi sabi but this presentation really expanded and deepened my awareness  of the overall concept and aspects. Thank you Emma for the generous course. I enjoyed it immensely."-Susan, student in Wabi Sabi Mixed Media Books Class

"I love not caring about getting it done quickly, but my critic does creep in.  Whenever I feel myself thinking about how long it might take or how slowly and infrequently I work on it I take a breath and remember that’s not what this is about."

-Shay, student in Slow Stitched Contemplation Cloth Class

"Such a peaceful lesson. I found a washed out piece of linen that I am using with white sashiko thread. I need this in my life right now. Thank you." -Cathy, student in Slow Stitched Contemplation Cloth Class

"Thank you so very much. I think my timing on opening this class was perfect because I was definitely losing my center and beginning to feel a bit of panic. Watching your presentation helped ground that energy and remind me to simply be present. I will start my meditation cloth now with a much calmer, lighter heart." -student in Slow Stitched Contemplation Cloth Class
